Garden City House
Garden City House is a collection of photographs taken in a former Italian owned hotel in Cairo, Egypt. Opened in the beginning of the Twentieth Century Garden City House was conceived and existed for decades as a luxurious and tasteful ‘pension’. Eventually nationalized under Nasser’s government, alongside other goods and services owned by ‘foreigners’, the Hotel was handed over to Egyptians to manage. The original décor, while intact, has been left to decay due to lack of maintenance and the Hotel exists as a shadow of its former self.
